Speed ReadingMondays and Wednesdays, April 3, 5, 10, & 12
Speed reading helps you learn and study more effectively and efficiently. Not only will you read faster, but you'll develop increased comprehension, enhanced recall, and flexible reading skills.
Register for Speed Reading Workshops; spaces are limited!
Academic CoachingMake an appointment to meet with the ASC's academic coaches, Carl Thum and Jennifer Decker. Academic coaching can help you with topics such as:
- Time management
- Reading skills
- Effective study strategies
- Stress management
- Pre-major advising
Study Groups
Join a study group and receive weekly support from trained student leaders (for select courses). Free for all students!
Register online for study groups (check back later in the Spring to see available study groups).
Request a Tutor
Request a tutor to receive one-on-one support. Available for most courses, and free for all students (up to 3 hours a week).
Work with the Academic Skills CenterApply on the ASC website for one of the many jobs offered at the ASC:
- Study Group Leader ($13.50/hr)
- Peer Tutor ($12/hr)
- ENGS Tutor ($15/hr)
- Conversation Partner ($8/hr)
You need to have an A or A- in the course, or other proof of knowledge, and then attend one of our training sessions in Collis 101:
- Monday, April 3, 3:30-5:30
- Tuesday, April 4, 4:30-6:30
- Wednesday, April 5, 4:00-6:00

Applications are accepted throughout the term, or on an as-needed basis.
You can also pay it forward by volunteering as a tutor (just check "yes" to participating in the Pay it Forward Program on the tutor application).
Other full-time and part-time internships are also available at the ASC.
